QUESTION: Is that just one mosiac studio that produces all the mosaics, or is Capena like a center for the arts with alot of art studios and artists here and there?
I also read something about the "comune" system in Italy. One method of government was nobles ran a city [from city-states period I guess]. A person had some power and some land and then ruled over the people in the surrounding area.
Another method was some towns were incorporated as "comunes" i.e. without a noble as the overlord. The people got together and did a form of self-government.
Anon on a previous post explained the meaning of "Popolo" very well also...thanks!
Capena is known as the city of art. The city is famed for all the art there. Many people visit Capena who hope to enjoy all the art. I do not know how to explain it any more clearly...and keep with just the use of human words. Perhaps if I tried animal sounds it would be more understandable?
