I found out that they have a special Good Friday here.
Trapani - "The Procession of the Mysteries" 10 - 11 April
The Procession of the Mysteries is held in Trapani from 2pm of Good Friday and continues for almost twenty-four hours until the Saturday. It is the longest religious event in Italy and one of the oldest. This event consists of the transport of 20 groups of statues (Sacred Mysteries) representing the various stages of the Via Crucis through the city. The statues were made between the 17th and 18th century.

Hi Dad,
It sure is fun reading your blog and living your trip vicariously. Sure wish we could be there with you.
We had a fun weekend recently at the Asian Festival in Miami with Mark and John.
Afterwards we had dinner with a few more of our gang in "Paradise". Its a fundraiser for a tree planting group were they have famous chefs cook for us on a organic farm, each course paired with wines. You eat outside in a gazebo, and it's a lot of fun. My favorites were the squash blossom risotto with champange hollandaise and the lobster colcannar.
This weekend we go with friends to Captiva.
I think of you everyday.
Love, Valerie

Hi!

Wow! Sounds like a very special experience!

I wonder if they will have any special Easter foods? I just read that one Easter dish "Ham and Egg Pie" is called Pizza Rustica in Italia because it was made by the peasants.

All your food looks delicious!

Hi!

OMG then after the Stations of the Cross festival the next week in Trapani they will have the Red Bull Kite Festival, the top 12 windsurfers in Italia will be there!!! OMG!!!

Gosh you are in one groovy place!!! Hope you are having fun and in good health...

I read that in Rimini [northeastern] part of Italia, has many surfers there also aka Beach Romeos. And has an expression there, "Don't take too seriously the Beach Romeo with sand between his toes."

For four months of the year they are waiters in restaurants or lifeguards and the rest of the year they live in India or Bali. Is a type of Italian hippie I guess.

The author said they pursue the German and Swedish girls, then some of the girls fall in love and end up to stay in Italia.

Then 20-30 years later you see the same blonde girls working at roadside fastfood stands in Rimini, but now they are middle-aged and overweight.

Somehow it remind me of a person I know, an Italian boy, fall in love with an Olander [Dutch] - German girl. I wonder what his kids are like?!!!

Hi!

Is Olandese, my bad.

And the term for beach boy is "ragazzo del spiaggia", boy of the beach.
