'..."All that the Lord has said will we do..."' Exodus 24:7 > How can you make God's Word more personal and effective in your life? By receiving it as a practical, not a theoretical Word. The Bible is not God's attempt to offer illuminating insights, interesting theories or good advice for our consideration. No, it's an authoritative, indisputable statement of eternal truth for us to live by. It's intended for real-world application. '"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house upon the rock"' (Matthew 7:24 NKJV). The obedient builder's rock-solid foundation withstood the storm's violence. Conversely, '"Everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them"' Jesus says, is a fool, and the storms will erode his foundation (v. 26-27). Now, Jesus didn't condemn this man for building an inadequate structure, or failing to hear, understand and believe His words, but for failing to act on them. 'Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says...the man who looks intently into the perfect law...not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does' (James 1:22-25 NIV). If we think reading, knowing, and even believing God's Word fulfils our obligation to it, we're self-deceived. Because it's God's Word, His intention for it must be fulfilled. That requires not just believing, but behaving the Word. James didn't say, 'he will be blessed in what he believes,' but 'he will be blessed in what he does!' When Moses read God's Word to the Israelites, they said, 'All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.' Amen.

Hi!
How are you doing? Sorry, I did not get to check the blog til today. I left a few more comments in it, some humorous (hopefully...)!
Your blog is interesting. You had a pic of state of Garibaldi, but I did not know who he was. So I read and found out he's like the George Washington of Italy.
He took a group of Sicilians and went up the boot of Italy, uniting the different provinces/ kingdoms into one country.
And like GW, many places in Italy have a sign that says, "Garibaldi slept here" or Garibaldi ate here".
This is a nice quote from the Bible also. I was reading in a Buddhist magazine, an interview with an old nun, practicing 30 years or more Buddhism.
She said, "When we were young, we wanted to know all of the esoteric secret practices and nobody our age ever wanted to go to the beginner's classes about the basic principles.
"But now that I am older, it seems as if the esoteric practices were devised mainly for the young: with their tremendous inquisitiveness, restlessness, and energy.
"Now that I am older, having lived through and seen so much corruption in the temples, the monasteries, as well as the outside world, it seems to me now that the most important practices are the basics: like 'Be kind' ."
That's what I got out of this passage: "Be nice." Similar to what Plato said, "Be kind, because everyone you see is fighting a tough battle."
Thanks for keeping this blog. I just want to quit working and fly over there! so the blog is an alternate method of visiting.
Can you imagine if those who emigrated from Italy at turn of the century could have kept a blog?!! Luckily you can do that! Thanks!!!
Miss you!
